Over the weekend my dad and I headed out for a 14 mile bike ride.

A lonely eagle that was quite content and wasn't spooked as we had pulled up.

The mud caused us to sink in a bit in places, but we managed to push on.

River North of town, where we stopped and had lunch at.

Great spot to stop and catch a break.

Sun wasn't able to come out too much, but was still a perfect day for a ride.

Field Trip to Power Plant and Lake Mac

Today our environmental science class got the opportunity to go and get a tour of the Sutherland Power Plant, and the Ogallala Kingsley Dam. This photo above was inside the Power Plant, and the floor was constantly shaking because of the vibration of all the equipment running.

Another photo of the power plant.

This was a photo from the control room, where every piece of equipment is monitored through out the building, and one little mistake could cost the plant a million dollar fine!

We got to go to the top of the building which was about 200+ feet up off the ground, and it was pretty sweet, but also very cold!

A picture looking west, and the railroad tracks where they get the coal that's delivered from the trains. They have 4 trains of their own that go back and forth getting coal, and they use 1 and a half trains of coal a day.

Another picture of the view from the top of the building.

A photo of the coal that's used throughout the plant.

We got to see the boiler room, which this is what they let us see of it, and there's a hook above the opening, and they would hook a shotgun up to that, and they shot that into the flame ball, to help get all of the ash off of the walls, and someone bought the wrong shells, and it went to the other side and blew a hole in the other side of the wall, so now they don't do that anymore.

Another view of the whole power plant as we're leaving, and heading to Ogallala.

This was a photo of Kingsley Dam, and off in the distance to the left is the eagle viewing site.

Some ice from Lake McConaughy.

A picture looking down the Dam.

The morning glory.

Don't wanna fall in there!

That big circle shape in the ceiling can open up, and they can lower just about anything that they need to under the ground.

This was a 250 pound wrench that is used on the equipment below, takes about 2 guys to manage to lift this thing.

Right here we were on the 9th floor under ground, which was 60 feet below the water, and this man hole brought you down 25 feet lower then that.

This was just a quick snapshot of the mansion on the hill in Ogallala right before we had to leave back for school.

Holiday Fun

Tate was very excited about his moose that he got for his Christmas present this year.

A picture of Tate from my new Coolpix camera that I got for Christmas.

Smoked cheese and bread really hit the spot!

A nice 9 mile bike ride for the new year, trying out the camera.

The Grandparents came down on Christmas day, was great seeing them again.

Another shot of the road.
